3m (2m7f213y) (New) Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (Registered As The Spa Novices' Hurdle) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (5yo+)
Until yesterday, you'd have to say Paul Nicholls horses has been running poorly. But Ginny's Destiny ran a great race in the Turners Novices Chase and Monmiral claimed success for Nicholls in the Pertemps. He has another three-mile hurdler in the Albert Bartlett and whilst this could be another Willie Mullins show, CAPTAIN TEAGUE has obviously strong credentials with solid Grade 1 form in the bag.
Captain Teague was third in the Champion Bumper last year behin Fact To File and A Dream To Share whilst he had Lecky Watson three lengths behind him in fourth. Captain Teague has looked a progressive hurdler this season coming second in a Grade 2 before winning the Grade 1 Challow Novice hurdle re-opposing three of those rivals today. That was an attritional race on desperate ground so all the rain that's fallen will hold no fears for him.
Whilst the Irish horses could possibly have a form edge, Captain Teague must surely be the top British contender and he looks overpriced at 17/2 for a race and conditions that are sure to suit him.
1pt win Captain Teague @17/2, 14:50 Cheltenham, Friday
